A Special Gram Sabha (Haritha Sabha) was convened in Muppainadu Grama Panchayat in connection with World Environment Day on June 5. The function was inaugurated by President Mrs. Sudha C. V. Development Standing Committee Chairperson Mr. Jolly Scaria delivered the welcome address, and Vice President Mrs. Rahiyanath presided over the event.
Secretary Mr. Sajeesh K. S. presented the subject on the Solid Waste Management Rules 2026 and the directives of the Supreme Court related to waste management.
Health and Education Standing Committee Chairperson Mrs. Sangeetha Ramakrishnan, Welfare Standing Committee Chairperson Mr. Suresh Babu M., members Mrs. Yamuna and Mr. Shameer Ali, and CDS Chairperson Mrs. Suneera Kabir extended their felicitations.
KILA Resource Person Mr. Sujimon conducted awareness classes and sessions. As part of the Special Gram Sabha, two campaigns titled “Swachh Gramam, Safe Climate and Water” and “Clean and Green Villages” were organized.
Tree plantation drives and seminars were also conducted in various institutions and schools. Grama Panchayat members, Kudumbashree CDS Executive Members, Haritha Karma Sena members, volunteers from each ward, Working Group members, BMC members, and Panchayat staff actively participated in the event.
